Happy Saturday!

Its been a while since Ive shared a beauty related blog post with you babes. Things have been very busy since the holidays hit and the time I have spent towards my online family has been going towards my MiracleTribe.

We start another round of May Cause Miracles tomorrow and I am so excited!! Lots of planning, prepping and meditating is involved in getting this coaching up and running. Its never too late to join! Check it out if you are ready to up your game this new year!

All details on the book + the Facebook group invite >>> HERE <<<

So! As my life evolves, priorities change and new products hit the market - I discover NEW favorites that I am so excited to share with you!

A few months ago I committed to discovering great products that were comparably close to my staple favorites but MUCH cheaper.

Although I still stand by my favorite products proudly - I like many of you are looking to save and honestly as a busy mom I love that most of these I can pick up while grabbing groceries!

Anywhere in my schedule where I can save some time is a huge bonus!

My daily makeup routine (pictured to the right) is super simple. It happens in the parking lot at work and its so much cheaper than anything I have previously shared with you.

I have all my daily products listed and linked below with their prices included for quick reference. Below that I have included detail on the comparison between my favorite staple products to the cheaper ones I recently discovered.

Feel free to be proud, we've gone from spending $50 on foundation to $6!!!

Mascara

I think I struggled the most with mascara - nothing really compares to They're Real by Benefit or The Roller Lash by Benefit, its honestly difficult to use anything after Benefit.

I tried numerous products and just found myself frustrated by the overall dryness you experience from most drug store mascaras. They clump fast and flake throughout the day, the over sized application wands are obnoxious and if they did work ok they had a funky chemical smell that drove me nuts!

It was a journey but at one point I tried The Maybelline Stilleto Mascara and honestly its pretty solid making it a great dupe for the Benefit Roller Lash OR They're Real.

Both Benefit Mascaras cost $24 compared to the Maybelline Stilleto Mascara costing a cute $7.69

For reference, I always go black. Jet black, as black as they make it and I rarely go waterproof - I find its too much of a pain to get waterproof off later.

Eyebrows

Eyebrow wise...I failed, I could NOT find anything even remotely close to Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. Even the famous NYX eyebrow dupe miserably failed. I am very picky when it comes to eyebrows and this was the one product I had to stick with. It works fabulously, lasts long, and looks great. I like bold but natural brows and at this point, nothing beats Anastasia.

For reference, I do NOT have tatted brows, I get this question so often! My brows are naturally dark, occasionally I do dye them a bit darker for fun.

I don't wax, I pluck them myself and I NEVER let anyone touch them. I went through the crap phase like most where I over plucked. Through trial and error I have learned the value of letting them grow and peak to their fullest potential.

With that said, I have been so curious about getting them tattooed. I have a friend who does a really great job while making them look natural and not tatted on - every time I see pictures my curiosity peaks! So who knows...maybe one day it'll happen but for now I stick with Brow Wiz.

Concealer + Foundation

On a good skin day I ONLY use concealer, but sometimes my skin freaks out and I need a little extra coverage. On good days I use Maybellines Instant Age Rewind Concealer, its pretty awesome and although it looks best with a mid day touch up, it blends really well and doesnt dry out your skin. I love the built in brush which makes those touch ups extra quick and easy.

For the days my skin needs a little extra care I  add the Rimmel Matte BB Cream, this product is insanely smooth!

It provides great coverage and looks awesome. Its a great primer pairing up nicely with a powder and/or concealer. I find that it does minimizes my pores and it does a great job covering up any crazy spots. With my skin being extra dry I love that this BB cream is moisturizing and brightening which keeps my skin looking nice and even.

As a bonus it doesnt break me out which I appreciate and its got a little SPF which is always a win!

Impressive for the price right? There is one downside....Rommel has a HUGE lack of colors. "Light" works great for me during the summer/fall months but when winter hits and I get pretty translucent I cant use it without it looking funky. I really wish they provided more of a color variety.

My all time favorite concealer and foundation these two are being compared to is Nars! And oh my god these products have a special way of making your skin look brand new.

Its a bit unreal and if you ever have the opportunity to head into Sephora makeup free, be sure to try their foundation. My go to here is Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer both incredibly pricey but also really fucking awesome!

Age Rewind Concealer $7.99 compared to Nars Concealer $30

Rimmel Matte BB Cream $3.99 compared to Nars Sheer Glow $47

Eyeshadow

IMG_5902.JPG

I don't do eye shadow everyday so I wont go into too much detail here. I feel like if you can narrow down the basics you can pretty much get away with most eye shadows.

I got the NYX eye shadow (pictured above) from Ipsy way back when I had their subscription service. You can get these little trios off their site or you can purchase one of their larger pallets with more variety.

My favorite eye shadow pallet is Lorac which I did a giveaway for a year or two ago. You can get their pallet from the Lorac site or from Ulta for $44 - they are awesome!

I have both the Lorac 1 and 2, a little goes a long way with these so yes I still have them and use them often. Because of this I rarely need to replace my eye shadow pallets.

SO! If you are looking for a product dupe for the Lorac I would go NYX. They are great, long lasting, blend well and NYX has a variety of colors + pallet sizes.

In addition to eyeshadow, NYX does a fabulous job with their lip products - my favorite color is Creme Brulee and I wear it often! I love that it has a little bit of color but for the most part is pretty natural.

Hope this was useful for you! Let me know if you have any questions. LOVE you babes oh so much!

One word #MyIntent

Is there one word that describes you? One word that wraps up who you?

What are you passionate about, interested in, excited about? Is there a word that represents that?

Is there a word that encourages you, challenges you, motivates you or keeps you on track?

If you had just one word, max 14 characters, what would it be?

"MyIntent Project is a catalyst for
meaningful conversations and positive action."

"We believe there is purpose inside each of us and we want our efforts to encourage people to share more truth and inspiration with each other. We are not a jewelry company - we are a service project." -MyIntent

Once a year my work puts together "Make A Difference Week". Its the most celebrated week at CHG, dedicated to charity, love, and fun! One of the events this year was the MyIntent project. You choose a word within 14 characters and its engraved on a little circle you can choose to wear as a bracelet or a necklace. The money made is donated and you walk away with a bracelet with YOUR word on it.

IMG_1345.JPG

I signed up for a bracelet immediately! I dig anything motivational ESPECIALLY when its inspiring and does some good for the community.

I bought my bracelet and then froze when it came time to pick my word.

I think its pretty obvious that I am incredibly wordy so picking just one word thats under 14 characters was hard.

I toyed with a few ideas. Took to google, Pinterest, and instagram. I searched so many different options and looked at all the inspiring options others imprinted on their bracelets.

My message, "Walk The Earth With Love" is too long. "Love and light" (although great) just felt typical.

I started writing down words and phrases I identified with that were under 14 characters....

"Already Here" - "This Moment" - "Spread Light" - "Explore - "Create" - "Believe in Magic" - "Discover" - "Do Epic Shit" - "Be Bold" - "Glow from Within" - "Glow Within" - "Create Magic"

The list goes on and nothing had that ahh hah feeling...

Eventually I started looking up crazy other words in different languages with a meaning that was longer than 14 characters.

I loved the word "Tapas" which means glow. "Sat Nam" is one of my meditation favorites, meaning truth identified. "Hunkaar" was cool, it means the sound of a dozen lions to the beat of a drum. I am a Leo dedicated to expression so I liked that but the words itself was a bit too masculine.

Eventually I came across the word "Meraki".

Along with Meraki sounding like a cool font or a Casino in Vegas its actually an IT company in San Francisco. The meaning itself is rad...

"To do something with soul, creativity, or love; to put something of yourself into your work"

It was perfect. It felt right and it summed up why everything I do takes so much energy. I put a piece of myself into EVERYTHING that I do. Relationships, friendships, work, hobbies, blogging...

IMG_1346.JPG

Blogging takes time, a lot of time. Creative expression takes energy, a lot of energy. The struggle has always been pushing through the desire to take a nap or binge watch shit on Netflix. I am a fan of Netflix and chill but I actually like to lay there and do nothing. After the exhaustion from work, mom life, and just getting through the day I would so much rather come home and crash on the couch with my family.

But the desire to blog is ALWAYS there, its the mental energy that's in short supply. I love connecting, sharing, and inspiring others.

I love this bracelet, I let it move me, motivate me, and encourage me everyday.

Every time I look at it I think of my love for expression and this space on the internet I have created where I can put all of my passionate energy. I don't ever take it off because it reminds me to stay consistent even though its exhausting sometimes. My problem is consistency, this has ALWAYS been the problem.

This bracelet is my reminder to get my ass up, grab my laptop, and sit back down haha. Seriously though, its a reminder to contribute to my passion and I have learned that although it all takes energy I end up more burnt out and exhausted when I don't contribute to my creative hobbies. Its like food, you need it to thrive and have energy but you need energy to digest it.
