Around age 11 I started collecting cards. My lovely grandma was probably who inspired me to start saving them. She had the most amazing handwriting and always wrote the best notes. They were personalized, sweet, and full of the best advice.
Overtime I started collecting any and all cards anyone gave me and the box grew. I loved reading what people wrote. I now have cards from anyone and everyone who has ever taken the time to write me something on a birthday, for Christmas, as a thank you, or just a random note. If you just signed your name on a card you didnt make the cut. Sorry!
At first I didnt really have a purpose for them other then I just felt guilty throwing them out and figured it would be funny to read my school notes from friends one day. The reason for the box changed when there was a day I was really upset and feeling lonely. I got out the box and started reading all the sweet things people had said. It was awesome and totally lifted my spirits. Especially the ones that still had money in them! Since then I have continued to add to the box and every once in a while I will take some time to go through them.
I think Christmas time more then ever has become a holiday where we just give and get gifts. Yes we all read stories about the true meaning of Christmas but I think its safe to say that for most of us getting presents is pretty much the focus. I for one definitely love to to give and get gifts!
However. I think its important especially during this time of the year to be grateful for what we have. Family, friends, loved ones, pets, etc...Show them you care by sharing how much you love and appreciate them. Not by just getting them what was on their wish list or the greatest bath set from Bath & Body Works but by expressing your love and appreciation for them. Lets give love!
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to write me something. I appreciate you and your words! During difficult times you made things better and that means the world to me.
I encourage you all to include a letter or a card in each of your presents this year. Or if you aren't super big on writing just grab your loved ones and tell them directly. Its the little things like this that matter and the little things that make a difference. It sure has in my life.
Much love! I appreciate each and every one of you!
